EML Secure Tyne Tunnel River Monitoring Contract

A contract has been signed with YSI Hydrodata of Letchworth in Herts covering the servicing and calibration of a number of YSI sondes to be installed on buoys on the River Tyne. The buoys are being used to measure turbidity, salinity, temperature and dissolved oxygen in an area 370m upstream and 150m downstream of the dredging site for the new Tyne Tunnel. The work includes the retrieval of the sondes by powerboat from mid-river for which Mark Dutton and John Armstrong have both undertaken RYA level 2 powerboat training and radio training and now hold the appropriate licences.
