St James' Park - Home to Newcastle United Football Club
EML visited St James’ Park to carry out maintenance of wind speed and direction sensors on the roof of the 52,000 capacity football stadium, which is the home of Newcastle United. From this vantage point, there are magnificent views of the stadium and the city! This is an example of one of the many services we provide to businesses and orgnisations around the UK. Our Engineering Team has a wide range of skills to perform equipment calibrations, maintenance and replacements. |
The output from the wind sensors is displayed visually in the operations office (see picture – right). The measurements are used to control the activities which occur on the roof. For example, if the wind speed rises above a particular threshold then no work can be carried out on the roof. These instruments are therefore vital for ensuring the safety of staff and contractors working at St James’ Park, and EML are proud of their important role in maintaining excellent standards of safety as part of an annual contract to maintain the wind sensors. The rooftop also affords fantastic views into the stadium and out over the city – we recommend a tour! |
